FUEL DUST EXPLOSIONS
THE CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH LEAD TO COMBUSTIBLE DUST EXPLOSIONS:





The reactions that lead to causing disasters like these, is the light pollution inside the pipes
where chemicals accumulate for the elaboration of a product.
That the reaction of the dust is combustible and when some heat is released such as steam
from a car or machinery, the fire would be maintained quickly if it is not removed from the
place.
Powder particles can disperse to cause combustion with slow disintigration.
Regarding the video, the aluminum dust accumulated in the ducts also provides fire in the
pipe for transfer of aluminum particles.
If you work in a food plant, such as flour and other powders, they can burn instantly, as well
as other grains near it. Just like fuel dust, this can also create certain problems for the
environment.
WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT COMBUSTIBLE DUST EXPLOSIONS
FROM HAPPENING:








First, the board recommended that OSHA review its hazard communication standard to
ensure that material safety data sheet better communicate dust hazards to workers.
Receive intermediate training and audit what has been learned, avoiding risks and inspecting
the serious site before starting work.
Inspect accumulated dust particle lines and schedule cleaning.
Using filters is a way to collect inappropiate material or dust from ducts.
Have a cooling system every time the ducts are overheated by ignition
Use vacuum cleaners that especially help to remove dust and place it in authorized deposits.
Cigar smoke is totally prohibited inside the plant.
Do not forget to use a system that collects dust.
SECONDARY EXPLOSION AND WHAT CAUSES IT:




A secondary explosion is generated from the release of particles that reach the atmosphere
causing expansions of combustible damage causing a high concentration of polluting dust,
however many of these also need additional reinforcement to explode something.
The causes come to be the manipulations that the employees have with the elaboration of
chemicals, these if they do not elaborate well, cause large and uncontrollable explosions,
cause huge flames of fire throughout the plant and even many times mutations due to the
expansion of not only fuel but not also of chemical powders.
It also causes clouds of dust. When you want to evacuate a person, these concentrations of
dust create false ceilings, false escape doors, etc.
They also cause large pressure waves, likewise , they become a quite deadly danger for the
population.
