WELCOME TO THE 2016 EVENT
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to welcome you to Energy Storage
North America 2016!
It’s an honor for us to host such a diverse crowd of
energy leaders here in San Diego. We have attendees from 28 countries at ESNA 2016 (as of this publication), representing some of the world’s leading
storage innovators, policymakers, financiers and forward-thinking utilities.
JANICE LIN
Conference Chair, ESNA
Co Founder & Executive Director
California Energy Storage Alliance
Founder and CEO
Strategen Consulting LLC
Co Founder & Chairperson
Global Energy Storage Alliance
The fourth annual Energy Storage North America will
celebrate our progress to date in building a thriving
energy storage industry – the forward-looking legislation, financing mechanisms, technologies and
innovative new business models that have brought
us to this impressive place. At the same time, we will
chart a path forward for energy storage by focusing
on the projects, innovative business models and policies that will catapult our industry into its next phase
of growth.
From our opening keynote address on energy storage’s role in ensuring a more diversified and reliable
electric power system, we’ll explore the critical role
that storage plays in building a more resilient and
efficient power grid. In our six conference tracks over
the following two days, we will take an in-depth
look at the inventive projects, applications and exciting utility and customer programs that are being
deployed across North America. Attendees will also
learn how storage is becoming part of the mainstream energy toolkit and how it successfully integrates with solar, electric vehicle charging, and other
distributed energy resources. The success stories
demonstrated in our program, workshops and sitetours all underscore the reality that energy storage is
here now: it’s cost-effective, it’s widely deployed and
the market is rapidly growing.
ESNA’s goal is to create a rich educational and networking environment where we can learn from each
other, share best practices, engage in constructive
discussions and ultimately seek to break down market and policy barriers. In so doing, we are all helping
to advance the ecosystem for energy storage.
So thank you for being part of this year’s event, and
for your leadership in energy storage! Because of
your efforts and participation, we are together building a cleaner, more efficient, and more reliable electric power system.
Sincerely,
Janice Lin

OVERVIEW
Dear ESNA Community,
I want to welcome you to the 4th staging of Energy Storage
North America!
Our first three Energy Storage North America events each
built on their respective successes, and we feel strongly
that this event has become one of the MUST-attend
conference and expos in the industry. None of this would
be possible without the amazing support that you, our
community, continues to bring. This is YOUR show! The
industry continues to grow at rapid speed and ESNA 2016
will be a mirror to that growth.
TOM MITCHELL
President
Messe Düsseldorf North America
Storage projects are being developed consistently on a
worldwide scale: Our sister events Energy Storage Europe,
Energy Storage China, Energy Storage India and Energy
Storage Summit Japan are the perfect examples of the
international market development around the world.
Our team is happy to be part of such an innovative industry.
Your developments, ideas as well as our workshops and
lineup of expert speakers are all making a difference in the
world. Thank you for being here and thank you for being
part our event.

the future with integrated solutions
Current understands the nature of energy generation and consumption is changing: an aging
power grid is in need of massive investment; the rise of electric cars is further straining the
infrastructure; and alternative energy sources such as wind and solar require a more localized
storage and distribution approach. Clean energy, environmental policy, and technological
advances are rapidly reshaping the world’s electrical grids, creating exciting new opportunities
