Evidence Required for HERDC and ERA
Evidence is required for each publication submitted to the Higher Education Research Data Collection
(HERDC) and Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA). It is important that sufficient detail is sourced
from the publication and uploaded to the publication record in ARIES so its eligibility can be verified.
BOOKS (Publication categories A1 and ExtA1)
ERA
You should provide:
 a pdf copy of the whole book
HERDC
You should provide evidence from the book of:
 pages showing the title, author/s, ISBN, publisher, place of publication, edition and all dates
referring to copyright
 page showing the affiliation of the author/s with ANU and your department
 the Table of Contents
 the Preface and/or the Introduction or the first chapter if there is no Introduction
 bibliography or list of works referenced by the author/s
BOOK CHAPTERS (Publication categories B1 and ExtB1)
You should provide evidence from the book of:
 pages showing the title, author/s, ISBN, publisher, place of publication, edition and all dates
referring to copyright
 page showing the affiliation of author/s with ANU, for example the List of Contributors
 the Table of Contents
 the Preface and/or Introduction or Chapter 1 if there is no Introduction
 the claimed chapter (in full)
 bibliography or list of works referenced by the author/s
JOURNAL ARTICLES (Publication categories C1 and ExtC1)
You should provide:
 a copy or offprint of the article including the by-line or footnote
 copy of journal showing the journal title, ISSN, and date of publication if they are not provided in
the article
 proof of affiliation of the author/s with ANU and your department if it is not shown in the article
CONFERENCE PAPERS (Publication categories E1 and ExtE1)
You should provide:
 a full copy or offprint of the paper showing the author/s

 copy or printout of the conference and proceedings titles, showing the editor, publisher, date of
publication and ISBN or ISSN if issued
 proof of the affiliation of the author/s with ANU and your department if it is not shown in the paper
Save the evidence as PDF files and upload them to the ARIES publication record
