Hyderabad, India Stake Service Project Wearing bright yellow “Mormon Helping Hands” vests, members of the recently created Hyderabad India Stake participated in a service project to assist the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to begin developing a park and playground in Secunderabad. More than 150 people donated their time on the September 19, National Holiday on the occasion of Ganesh festival to help cut grass, pull weeds and pick up trash in an area where a park with walking paths, garden, lawns and playground will be constructed. Neighbours and passing pedestrianswould stop by to ask about the people in the yellow vests who were working so hard. A number of the Church members had the opportunity to tell them about the Church and how the members volunteer their time to build stronger families and communities. One of the neighbours said, “You people have been sent by God to help make a better community”.Officials from the Hyderabad Horticultural Department expressed appreciation for the efforts Church members made in helping to beautify the city. Hyderabad Stake President John Gutty, who was instrumental in organizing the event, said, “This was a great opportunity for the members of the Church to serve the neighbourhood and feel the love of God through SERVICE. It says in Luke 22:27, ‘…but I am among you as he that serveth’”
