Applications for 2016 entry now open Deadline for application: 1st June 2016 23:59 Award types and eligibility Each studentship will be funded for 4 years. This includes tuition fees, stipend and bench fee. Stipend: Students will receive a tax-­‐free stipend of approximately £16,000 per year. Bench fees: A generous allowance will be provided for research consumables and for attending UK and international conferences Eligibility: The funding available supports Home/EU students with standard research council restrictions. Unfortunately we cannot accept applications from non-­‐EU candidates. Entry requirements The programme is very competitive and applicants must have or be predicted to obtain a high quality B.Sc. degree with a 1st or a high 2.1, or a master’s qualification at Merit/Distinction grade. If your first language is not English you must be able to provide recent evidence that your spoken and written command of the English language is adequate. Further information is available on the English language entry requirements page. You can contact the King’s Admissions team for further information via the messaging facility on the application portal. How to Apply Applicants must complete and submit an online admissions application, via the myApplication system: https://apply.kcl.ac.uk/. You will need to register an account to log onto the system. Selecting the programme to apply to (as shown in the image): Under Programme Type click ‘Taught degrees’ Under Keyword add “biomedical” Please select ‘Master of Research in Biomedical and Translational Science’ by clicking Apply. Once the programme has been selected, please select the start date (only 1 is available) and read the on-­‐screen information about how to progress through the application. Please be sure to complete the following sections of the form with all relevant information (all questions with a red asterisk next to them are mandatory and you will not be able to submit without answering these: • Personal Information • Education • Employment history (you will be able to enter up to 5 sets of employment information • The ‘Nature of work’ field allows only 50 characters, but you can upload further employment information on the references screen) • Supporting statement. Please include your personal statement in this section. Your personal statement should include the following elements: • State your three preferred PhD projects from the list of PhD projects on offer for 2016/17. These should be listed in order of preference and you should include the number that is assigned to the project and the project title • Tell us why you would like to apply for this programme • Indicate research topics of interest to you • Tell us about any relevant research experience, including employment. Upload a copy of your CV in this section. • References: Contact details for two academic referees or relevant employers in research institutions/companies (we will then contact your referees directly). Note that academic referees must have university email addresses and employer references should have the official email address of the company. If you already have two academic references, you can scan and upload these instead (note that they must be signed and on headed paper). Please remember that it is your responsibility to ensure we have received the references before the shortlisting process starts, so contact your referees to let them know we will be requesting a reference from them. • Funding: In the funding section of the online application form please select No. 5 Kings College London Award and enter the code KBI Studentship. Projects All projects identified are available as a 1+3 structure, meaning that there is a 1-­‐year MRes, followed by a 3 year PhD. Please contact the project supervisors for further information on possible project opportunities. This does not commit a candidate to these laboratories, but is helpful for the application process. • And finally, check and submit your application.
