Sigma Tau Sigma Mentor Contract
2012-2013
Being a Spartan Mentor is a big responsibility. We want to make sure you and your parents understand
the nature of the job and what is expected of you. Students are expected to follow the rules and
regulations outlined in the Students Rights and Responsibilities document. Spartan Mentors that
engage in behaviors that result in disciplinary action by the administration may result in probation or
dismissal from the program. Some specific points of emphasis are included below:
 Engaging in an activity that results in a substance abuse violation or charge may result in
automatic dismissal from the program.
 Spartan Mentors are expected to follow the Broad Run High School Honor Code. If you earn an
honor code violation during your tenure as a Mentor, you will have to appear before an Honor
Court (comprised of one administrator, three executive board members, and one teacher).
 Be a student of good academic standing.
 Attend ALL major functions and training of Spartan Mentors. Pre-arranged absences must be
made by contacting Mr. Fitzgerald, Mrs. Davies, or Mr. Totaro at least one day in advance.
 Spartan Mentors are expected to follow all LCPS attendance policies. Accumulating unexcused
absences or tardies may result in probation or dismissal from the program.
 Maintain confidentiality with any personal information that you and your freshmen may share.
Sharing information with others not directly involved in the mentorship of your freshman may
result in probation or dismissal from the program.
 Improper posting on Facebook, Twitter or any other social network may result in probation or
dismissal from the program.
If a student is removed from Sigma Tau Sigma she/he will receive a letter stating the reasons for
removal. The student may appeal in writing within 7 days to the Sigma Tau Sigma Administrator (Mr.
Fitzgerald). The Administrator will then convene a board composed of three executive mentors, a
teacher, and another administrator.
