Briefly describe the setting.
Brief summary of the plot. Include climax.
Brief description of the main character.
Brief description of the conflict the main character
faces, and the main character resolves the conflict.
The theme (main idea) is explained.
Paragraphs are well developed, and use topic
sentences to stay focused.
Written expression: use of language, ideas flow
clearly from sentence to sentence and paragraph to
paragraph.
Mechanics: punctuation, spelling, usage.
Fulfills all the requirements of the assignment.
TOTAL
45 - 50 points (generally well written) = 90% to 100%
40 - 44 points (substantial & adequate) = 80% to 89%
35 - 39 points (satisfactory) = 70% to 79%
30 - 34 points (unsatisfactory) = 69% and below
