Disorders and Disease of the Immune System
All organisms must maintain homeostasis to sustain life. In order for homeostasis to
occur, body systems must work together. A disease and/or disorder are a failure of an
organism’s ability to maintain homeostasis.
When the body encounters a pathogen or germ the immune system responds. Specialized
cells and organs help your body recognize and respond to the foreign invaders.
Your assignment is to research and write a one page summary about a disease or
disorder of the immune system (following the guidelines below), create a visual
representation i.e.) PowerPoint, poster board, pamphlet or handout for each classmate.
Then present it to your classmates!
This assignment must include:
1. Brief description of the disorder which includes the pathogen responsible
and methods of transmission.
2. Organ and or organ system effected.
3. Cure and or treatment.
Note: Use your text book, go to the library or internet but don’t forget to site your
sources utilizing a bibliography.
Internet guidelines: Make sure these sites are reputable and NO WIKAPEDIA
allowed. ENJOY THE BREAK AND HAVE FUN.
