The Description: Physical Science covers basic chemistry and physics principles and their applications. Colored pencils, Ruler Dry Erase Markers Calculator (same as math calculator) Clear scotch tape Labs: All students must submit a parent permission form and pass a safety quiz to participate in labs. Safety goggles, long pants and shoes must be worn in lab. A grade of zero and an office referral will be given if proper procedures are not observed. You may e-mail or call me if you are absent. Attendance Policy: NO CREDIT will be given for a class if you have more than five unexcused absences, even if you have a passing grade. Classroom Rules: 1. Obey all class rules. 2. Always have your notebook, Chromebook and a pencil. 3. Work from bell to bell. 4. Interference will not be tolerated. 5. Respect yourself and others. 6. Students will not be allowed to sit in class without an ID. Grading: Grades will be calculated as follows: Daily Work/Quizzes 50% Major Tests 40% 9 weeks Exams 10% Procedures: 1. Be in your seat when the bell rings. 2. At the end of class wait until I tell you to pack up. NEVER LINE UP AT THE DOOR. 3. Pencils are sharpened before or after class. 4. Restrooms or water fountain: Only emergencies with a pass. 5. Throw trash away before or after school. Consequences: 1st Interference: Warning 2nd Interference: Detention the next day. 3rd Interference: Immediate Office Referral. If the behavior is over the limit for what is considered interference, an immediate office referral will be given. Tardies: Students are considered tardy if not in their seats when the bell rings. Cell Phones: Turn off your phone before entering my class and put it in your book bag. If I see that you have a cell phone, it will be taken to the front office unless we are using it for class purposes. Extra Help: I will be happy to help students after school when possible if you contact me in advance. Power Hour : Science every Monday and Thursday Time: 3:50pm to 4:50pm. Each 9 weeks grade counts 10% of the final grade. The final nine weeks exam is cumulative. Supplies Required For Class: Composition Notebook 100 pages College Ruled – May not be 70 pg or spiral bound notebooks Also: Any student discovered cheating will receive a grade of zero on that assignment. Food: Food, drinks and gum are against school policy in the hallways, classroom, computer lab and science lab.
