Photography and Photo Transfer Project
Photography has “captured” a great deal of history, and has affected
the advancement of many different art media and digital media.
Its initial introduction as a fine art was rejected to its predecessors
painting & sculptures; seen as simplistic and uncreative.
In 1857 photography was rejected as an accepted media in the
French Salon.
By 1858, the onset of rapid exposure photography and its influence
on other media had taken hold.
1859 it was final seen as a valuable media, and accepted in the
French Salon
Art Project: Photography
Due: May 3rd in Sketchbook
Part I:
Written Portion; Answer the following
questions in essay format. (500 words est.)
Handwritten essays will not be accepted. Print
and attach essay in your sketchbook.
How do you think photography has had an impact on the world?
What is the importance of photography in your life?
What is your personal experience with photography?
o Do you own a camera, what kind?
o What kind of photos do you take? Why?
Part II:
Photo Transfer
Select at least 3-5 photographs you have personally taken. Print in
Black & White or Color.
Bring printed photos to work with in class Tuesday April 12th
If you do not have any photos, use your time after class to take
photos with your cell phone or any other camera.
Photos: landscape, still life, self-portraits, animals, personal
artwork….. something meaningful to you.
Experiment with close-ups, long shots, and unusual camera angles.
Consider the different visual elements and design principles and try
and select an interesting composition.
