Strategic purpose statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the Printing
Industry with individuals who have the knowledge and skills to
manage a facet or multiple facets of a Print organisation.
Graduates will benefit by having a qualification which recognises
their Print Industry management skills and knowledge, and
enables improved job performance in an autonomous or
business unit management capacity.

Graduate profile
Graduates are able to:

Manage staff and/or or business processes to support
sustainability and/or growth of a Print organisation.

Research and report on Print industry production new
and emerging processes and technology.

Apply knowledge of Print Industry technology and
emerging processes and principles to contribute to
continuous business improvement within a Print
organisation.

Apply critical problem solving skills when making
decisions in a Print organisation.

Apply a range of interpersonal and communication
skills by working independently with customers or
within teams of diverse people within a Print
organisation.
Education pathway
This qualification may build on the New Zealand Certificate in
Print (Level 4) with strands in Digital Printing, Direct Marketing
Production, Offset Printing, Reel Fed Printing and Screen
Printing [Ref: 3198] or relevant print industry experience.
Graduates may progress to higher level management
qualifications.
Employment pathway
Graduates will have the skills and knowledge to make a
professional contribution to the Print Industry across a range of
roles such as manager, supervisor, team leader, business
owner.

approved programme of study or industry training programme
leading to the qualification.

This qualification replaced the National Diploma in Print Industry Management
(Level 5) [Ref: 1377].

People currently working towards the replaced qualification may either complete the requirements for that
qualification by 31 December 2020 or transfer their results to the replacement New Zealand qualification.
The last date for entry into programmes leading to this qualification is 31 December 2018.
The last date for assessment against this qualification is 31 December 2020.
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.
However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Competenz at the address
below. Appeals will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
