The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) has completed the
revision of the qualifications and unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published
July 2011
Reason for the revision
Following the transfer of standard setting responsibility for the Masonry subfield from the
Creative Trades ITO to the BCITO, qualifications and unit standards within the subfield
were revised to include the BCITO as the standard setting body and to update standard
details in the qualifications and CMR reference in the unit standards.
Revision and change of SSB responsibility for Masonry qualifications
The next qualification reviews are planned to take place during 2012-2014.
Main changes resulting from the revision
 The standard setting body was changed to the Building and Construction Industry
Training Organisation and contact details were updated.
 Standard details were updated, where required, to reflect any changes made at review.
National Certificate in Stonemasonry [Ref: 0336]
There are not changes to structure or content. However:
 Titles of unit standards were updated.
 The title of the related qualification in the purpose statement has been updated.
There are no transition consequences for existing candidates.

and Refractory Installation [Ref: 0454]
This qualification is expiring there are no changes to structure or content. The name and
contact details of the Standard Setting Body were updated.
Transition
The last date for assessment for the qualification is unchanged: 31 December 2011.
National Certificate in Refractory Installation [Ref: 1355]
Changes to structure and content
 Credits for standards 2543 and 13016 have been updated.
 Overall credit total was increased from 84 credits to 89.
 Titles and classifications of some standards were updated to reflect changes made at
their review.
There are no transition consequences for any existing candidate.
National Certificate in Brick and Block Laying [Ref: 1356]
Changes to structure and content
 Credits for standards 62, 2543, and 13016 have been updated.
 Overall credit total was increased from 204 to 210.
 Titles and classifications of some standards were updated to reflect changes made at
their review.
There are no transition consequences for any existing candidate.
National Certificate in Masonry with strands in Monumental Masonry, Natural Stone
Fixtures and Fittings, and Banker Masonry [Ref: 1482]
There are no changes to structure and content. However:
 Titles of some standards were updated to reflect changes made at their review.
There are no transition consequences for any existing candidate.
It is not intended that anyone is disadvantaged by these changes. However, anyone who

Main changes resulting from the revision
 The standard setting body was changed to the Building and Construction Industry
Training Organisation and contact email.
 The CMR reference was changed from 0066 to 0048.
 References to legislation and other unit standards were updated for currency and
accuracy where required.
Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)
The unit standards referred to above have been moved from CMR 0066 to CMR 0048.
