Course Overview:
The Third Year Spanish language course is intended for students who wish to develop their
proficiency in all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. A large portion of
the class will be conducted in the target language and it will be expected that all students will
communicate in the target language most of the time. This class will challenge, require discipline
and possibly deepen the interest of the language for all students.
Student Learning Outcomes:











Review material learned in previous levels (First and Second Year Spanish),
Prepare for success in language by reinforcing the four skills of language,
Review, correct and use grammar appropriately,
Acquisition of vocabulary based on thematic concepts,
Show growth in all four skills by integrating current and past concepts,
Read original works from Spanish newspapers and magazines,
Prepare a portfolio showing work of growth and development in the target language,
Integrate skills to produce a written formal and informal pieces,
Integrate skills to produce a formal and informal oral pieces,
Comprehend formal and informal usage of target language,
Express ideas with accuracy and fluency.
Course Length: Two high school semesters
Grading Method: A – F
Prerequisites: Spanish 2 with C- or better grade, or teacher approval.
