Figuring out where a poet’s ideas come from
can give us a much better understanding of the
meaning and message of his or her words. The
poet may feel a certain way about a topic or
want to share a personal experience with
readers. Whatever the reason is, if we can
determine the poet’s inspiration, we will have
much greater success in understanding the
poet’s message.
