University College Study Abroad Grant Proposal
Purpose: to provide a grant as an incentive to encourage students to study abroad.
Eligibility: any student who is majoring, minoring, or enrolled in a master’s program within the
University College.
Amount of the grant: up to $500 per student per academic year.
Process:
a. Students who want to compete for a University College Study Abroad Grant will
submit an application by November 15 and February 15 each year (see attachment).
b. The University College Dean will determine a yearly budget for the study abroad
grant. Due to the number and popularity of summer study abroad programs versus winter study
abroad programs, one-fourth of the available grant budget is reserved for winter study abroad
grants.
c. A board consisting of University College faculty (one from each academic unit) will
meet after each application suspense to consider all applications. The board members will
consider the merit and need of each applicant then make recommendations for each application.
The board will forward their grant application recommendations to the University College Dean
for approval and disbursement of funds.
