St. Simon Stock School Profile
St. Simon Stock Elementary School, which is at 6440 Lisgar Drive, welcomed students in September 2002 and had its Solemn Blessing in April 2003. The
school has a population of 340 students. The school was originally part of St. John of the Cross Parish, and St. Simon Stock, like St. John of the Cross, is a
Carmelite saint. Our school prayer, “With God, we learn and play. To Him, we faithfully pray. Service for others, every day" is a part of who we are as a
community.
St. Simon Stock, a member of the Carmelite religious community lived in the thirteenth century. Tradition holds that Our Lady appeared to him and gave him
the Carmelite habit and the scapular.
Together, our school and Catholic School Council help those in need in the local community and beyond through activities which support the local food
bank, Angel on the Tree at Christmas for the needy and fundraise for Share Life, Terry Fox and other charities. The students and their families also help the
parish with its fundraising efforts to build St. Josephine Bakhita Parish. The Student Council and our Youth Faith Ambassadors model faith and leadership
throughout the school, which are recognized at each of our monthly Virtues assemblies and special events.
