Extra Credit Assignment
Class. I have decided to add a fairly open ended extra credit assignment worth
UP TO 5% (grade depends on the quality of your work).
Here are some examples of assignments you could work on for extra credit:
-a review of a movie about politics (Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, Django Unchained,The
Hurt Locker, The Ides of March, 13 Hours, etc)
-a review of a current book about political affairs (include a summary and analysis). For
example, Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now, Escape from Camp 14, ISIS:
The State of Terror, etc
-a description and analysis of a protest rally, debate, campaign speech, etc you have
personally attended THIS semester
-a critical analysis of a current member of congress (biography, voting record, efficacy
of career etc)
-an analysis of the primary elections going on in both major political parties
If you have a better idea, let me know.
The long and the short of my message is this: you don't HAVE TO TAKE ME UP
ON THIS. If you feel so compelled please complete one of these assignments. It
can only help (and NOT hurt) your grade.
The paper MUST be approximately 5 doubled spaced, typed pages of well
reasoned, nicely written, smartly constructed work. If it's a movie or book review
it should be a summary AND an analysis. If you use research, please use
citations and a bibliography.

This assignment is due the last formal day of class (ie during final's week).
