Black Dance Theatre troupe to perform at CU
Members of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre will take the stage during a special performance next week in
the Cameron University Theatre, located at University Drive and A Avenue in Lawton.
The Jan. 27 event, “An Evening of Dance,” will feature performances from a diverse, multi-ethnic troupe of
professional modern dancers. The event, sponsored by the Cameron University Ebony Society and the CU
Lectures and Concerts program, is perfect for all ages. Admission for the 7 p.m. performance is free.
The Dallas Black Dance Theatre is the oldest, continuously operating professional dance company in
Dallas. The ensemble consists of 11 professional dancers performing a repertory of modern, jazz, ethnic
and spiritual works by nationally recognized choreographers including Alvin Ailey, Talley Beatty and Donal
Byrd.
The mission of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre is provide opportunities for minorities and to bridge cultures
through performance and educational programs the reach diverse communities.
