TH PROGRESS REPORT – 2014 CATHOLIC APPEAL We are pleased to share that St. Ignatius Parish has raised $75,381.75.00 toward our 2014 Catholic Appeal goal of $76,321.00. Because of your generosity, we are at 98% of our goal as of June 25, 2014. Your support is deeply appreciated by Cardinal Sean and by all who benefit from the fifty ministries made possible by the Appeal. We have nearly reached our goal. If you have yet to make a pledge, we ask you to prayerfully consider how you can help. BOOK DISCUSSION We have a suggestion to add to your summer reading list: The Tenth of December by George Saunders. This book will be discussed in the parish offices on September 21st at 11:15. Reviewers note that Saunders’ stories take on life's big questions and explore the fault lines of our own morality, delving into the questions of what makes us good and what makes us human. The stories focus on what is redeemable in human beings and fulfill Chekhov’s dictum to “prepare us for tenderness.” Happy reading, happy summer. 1. The Performance will be held here at St. Ignatius on Thursday, July 17 at 7:30 pm. TH “For the Greater Glory of God” has been performed in many Jesuit Universities in the United States and at Regis College in Toronto, Ontario. The performance uses music, dance, biblical text and the person of Ignatius of Loyola to make the Exercises come alive with renewed imagination and spiritual impact. “The troupe’s well choreographed performance was able to open the eyes of the audience and give us the flavor of this profound work in Christian Spirituality. The troupe’s technical brilliance was a perfect vehicle for the religious depth of the Exercises” (William Spohn, University of Santa Clara.) “People, including many carefully schooled in the tradition of Ignatian spirituality, felt invited into the mind and heart of Ignatius in a completely new and exciting way!” (J.A. Loftus, Associate Pastor and former President of Regis College in Toronto.) The performance is in celebration of the 200 Anniversary of the Restoration of the Society. It features TH professional dancers, actors, St. Ignatius Music Ministry, as well as Fr. VerEecke interpreting the role of Ignatius. 2. 5. Saber evaluar, tu experiencia de oración. Estás cordialmente invitado(a) a realizar esta práctica. Si estás interesado(a) en conocer más, me puedes escribir a lmgarjimsj@gmail.com 4.
