An English recipe
1. This is an English recipe. Which differences with a French recipe can you notice ?
Ingredients
8 21 oz self raising flour
4 34 oz caster sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
3 eggs
8 oz grated raw carrot
1
4 tsp salt
5 13 fl oz sunflower oil
Method
Step 1 : Preheat the oven to 360˚F.
Step 2 : Combine the dry ingredients
Sieve together the flour, the baking powder, the cinnamon and the salt.
Step 3 : Mixture
Put the oil in a large bowl and beat with the sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then fold in the
dry ingredients and stir in the carrot.
Step 4 : Bake
Butter and flour a spring form tin. Place the mixture in the baking tin and bake for 45 minutes.
Then turn the oven down to 325˚F for a further 20 minutes. When it’s done, take the cake out of
the oven and cool in the tin for 5 minutes. Then remove from the tin to cool on a wire rack.
