The media center computers will be accessible from the hours of 7am to 3pm. This allows a half hour access time both before and after school. a. Students who use media center computers before or after school must sign in on the clipboard located on the circulation desk. Once signed in, students cannot leave the media center until the first bell in the morning or until the 3pm bell after school. 2. The media center computers will also be accessible during all 3 lunch periods. a. Students who use media center computers during lunch must sign in on the clipboard located on the circulation desk. Once signed in, students cannot leave the media center until the lunch period bell rings. 3. Students are welcome to utilize the media center computers at any point during the school day, as long as they present a pass from their teacher and sign in at the circulation desk. They must get their pass signed out by the media specialist or associate when leaving. a. Students must be respectful of other students or groups that are working in the library. If not, they will be asked to return to class. b. Any questions must be directed to the media associate if the media specialist is teaching a class or working with other students. Classes are not to be interrupted. ACCEPTABLE USE (Violation of any of the following points will result in termination of computer privileges or other punishments as seen fit by administrators) 4. Students may not download any software 5. Students may not access any inappropriate materials 6. Students may not post any inappropriate material onto a website 7. Students may not take part in any cyberbullying 8. Students may not violate copyright laws or plagiarize any material from the web 9. Students may not vandalize or misuse the computer in any way 10. Students may not share passwords or accounts with any other student 11. Students may not share personal information with any person or company through the web PRINTING 12. Students may only print to the black and white printer located at the circulation desk in the media center. The first 10 print-outs are free. Any additional print out will cost 5 cents per page. 13. Students may only print school-related materials. 14. If color prints are needed, students must consult with the media specialist or associate. LIBRARY COMPUTER USE MANAGEMENT 3 COMPUTER HARDWARE 15. Students are allowed to save or open material from USB drives or CD’s brought from home. MISCELLANEOUS 16. Students must log off the computers before exiting the media center 17. There is NO RIGHT TO PRIVACY when accessing the computers in the media center. 18. Using the computers is a privilege, not a right. Therefore, computer privileges can be terminated if student expectations are not met.
